I just happened on this browsing by the drone tag. It seemed like a fun idea and I love different forms of drone. It's a great album with a nice variation of sounds. It can be interesting to see what one can do with something you might not listen to otherwise.
like all significant ideas throughout history, this started as a joke on twitter.
we kicked it around a bit, bouncing fake remix ideas off each other. then a bunch of us realized that we actually wanted to hear this imaginary album, and decided to make it happen.
the concept is simple: drone versions of top 40 pop songs. covers, remixes, interpretations. 'drone' is used liberally; it was up to each artist to determine what the word meant to them.
this was conceived and organized almost entirely via twitter, through a series of @ messages, DMs and retweets. we ended up with everything from ethereal bliss to howling noise, which is exactly as things should be.
the artwork was done by jennifer krause - hand-painted with a 3d effect. it works with anaglyph 3d glasses. the artist will send you glasses for $1, customized for $5. email schooloftsunami [at] gmail if you'd like a pair. silk-screened posters may be a thing in the future, if there's enough interest.
this is a free compilation. donate if you feel especially inclined, but don't worry. enjoy!

I love everything on here so can't pick a favorite track. This album is just so cozy and encapsulates all the positive things about the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season for me from the music to the titles that engage the imagination. 10/10, very highly recommended Scott Lawlor

Guitar based drones and related enterprises that makes me fondly remember the Windy & Carl end of my collection. When I wander down those halls, I also see a lot of Shinobu Nemoto and his gang of shimmering projects...Summons of Shining Ruins, go!!! albinobone
